It’s Been Bothering You for a Long Time and You’re Finally Ready to Take Legal Action. All laws have statutes of limitations, which are deadlines for starting a legal claim.  Some of these are very short; others are much longer.  You also need to check any agreements you signed.  Sometimes agreements shorten the applicable statute of limitations and/or require you to take your claims to arbitration.  If you think you have a claim, don’t wait to find out.  You may find that you had a claim but you don’t anymore.
